News done right

This is news done right and one can comment or leave their own opinion. People reply some pretty stupid things but one could find a good conversation. Plus, articles are written to feel real and opinionated with little bias. Remember not to make it your only source so supplement with Fox, CNN, or whatever. Dont be that person.

Dodgy loading....

Frequent spinning beach ball. And the anti-Semitism is a bug, not a feature.

Best source for progressive commentary

I read it every single day. If more people did the world (ok, the US at least) would be a better place.

I love Salon!

Its great to have this app to access all the wonderful articles. Their technical support is fantastic! Thank you!

Opinions presented as facts

Sorry folks, this is not news. These are opinions. Maybe it would help to stand back, take a deep breath and say "Just because I believe something is true does not make it true." Because one has an opinion, even a very, very strong opinion based on personal perspective does not mean that other people have to change their ideas or agree or do anything. Stating an opinion repeatedly and loudly does not make it true.

Where is my article?

This app would be much improved if it would open up the article I was reading when I switched from Safari to this Salon app. Instead, when I decide to open the article in the app, I get sent to the home page and have to search for the article.

Awesome App

This is my go to App for all news and commentary.

Never improves - ever

This app should be discontinued. Glaring problems from years ago persist, update after update. Todays insult? Twitter posts are embedded into articles as links but no longer display the content of the posts. Totally useless.

Great content...

Great content but the software is terrible. Very buggy and the arrows at the bottom of the page appear and disappear finding your thumb as you scroll up and down the page you are reading, sending you to another article. Very annoying. Otherwise a nice app.

the bugs can be fixed

it doesnt matter. its got good lefty content. im rereading hemmingway.

A bit buggy

Great interface, excellent stories, but I find that sometimes, when I tap the third or forth story from the top on the right, nothing happens. I have to open a different story and swipe to get to the story I want.

Unbelievable!

In these times of lousy journalism, I am so grateful for this app. The articles -- whether I agree or not -- always leave me with something to think about. Amazing and rare! I read about the glitches but I have been so mesmerized by the content , I have not noticed.

Earlier versions were better

Frequently does not show stories that are on Salons Facebook timeline or on the Salon.com website. Articles often appear as a blank white page with no content. Video advertisement are super annoying.

Frustrating

The articles on this app are often quite good, but it is impossible to count on being able to open an article. Often, one must come back a few hours later to try again. They are lazy with picture assignments to the articles, frequently using the same picture on the same page for two or more articles. Sometimes, the picture has little to do with the content. Two weeks later: this app is even worse than ever. Now, it is impossible to get links to data such as reproduced tweets which they are using to illustrate the points in the article. Scrap this app and start over folks.

Useless on iPad

Salon has adjusted badly to iOS 9. Its performance on my iPhone 6 is spotty. On iPad its non-existent. The app crashes immediately. Cmon folks! Get with it!

Crashes, buggy, and slow

Love the writing and articles, but reading on the phone/tablet makes me want pull my hair out. Just when I get about half way through an article, the screen freezes. I have an iPhone 6, so I dont think this is a hardware issue. Also, the way that the advertisements pop up - usually after reading the first two lines in the article, makes for a significant disincentive for use.

GREAT

This is a most informative site. Joan Walsh and Brittney Cooper you both write very insightful, current, intelligent and thought provoking pieces. To ALL Salon, Thank you and dont stop keeping us informed.

So far lovable

Left my WaPo for this. Love Joan Walshs work. App is nice so far.

Salon

Crashes on startup about half the time. Has been so for multiple versions. Publisher should be ashamed. The software does not match the excellent content.

Nytimes app has no ads, this does

New York Times is an actually respected institution with a paywall and the app has no ads. I dont see why this clickbait tabloid website does.
